ACT 1- Girl is a dancer preparing for a competition, goes out late at night gets into car crash ACT 2- She is bullied becomes depressed and isolates herself, cuts off most friendships ACT 3- She sees other girls dancing realises she has to live with it and becomes a dance teacher. 5) What is unique about this film? Coming of Age Films Film Name: Mean Girls What are the themes?:  Friendship, Growing Up, Bullying, Loyalty, Comedy. What are the representations of gender/youth?: That girls are mean, childish, crave popularity. And the men are just prizes almost for the women. What suggestions do the music and titles suggest about character?: The music is quite upbeat at the beginning showing that everything starts of lighthearted. But when 'The Plastics' come on screen the music changes to a a song that insinuates a sex appeal. How does media language make suggestions about the character?: Regina is being carried by other boys showing she's superior to everyone else. This gives us an opportunity to explore the idea of  gender fluidity in society and the media - plus compare the changing representation of masculinity in advertising. Indeed, gender identity has become a major media and social issue in the last 10 years.
